Company History

Shinn Mechanical has grown steadily to become the elite mechanical contractor that we are today. Throughout our history, we have embraced technology and invested in the latest equipment and tools. Shinn's innovations and unique approach have made us one of the most competitive and competent contractors in the nation..

Shinn Mechanical was founded in November of 1994 by Mike Shinn. Born from little more than a site trailer and fabrication tent, Shinn soon opened its first office in Issaquah, Washington. The company grew fast from there, establishing our reputation as a major mechanical contractor. Shinn Mechanical completed many significant projects throughout the Puget Sound region and beyond. This included work for The Boeing Company, King County, University of Washington and even the ice rink installation at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA.

The next move for Shinn Mechanical came in the year 1998 when the company relocated to Bellevue, WA. The larger space gave us the opportunity to expand our shop, developing unique machines and processes to maximize Shinn's prefabrication capabilities.

In addition to purchasing state-of-the-art equipment, Shinn began to design and manufacture complex machines in-house that would make us one of the most efficient pipe fabricators in the northwest. This included advanced welding machines and processes, pipe cutting/prepping tools, and our renowned pipe handling/grooving machines.

In 2008 Shinn Mechanical built our current facility within a new 36,000 square foot building located in Kent, WA. Once again, Shinn used innovative ideas from employees within our organization to set up a safe, ergonomic, and extremely productive operation. The new facility received high praise from those in the mechanical construction industry. The articulating weld booms designed and installed by Shinn received a national innovation award from the MCAA. In 2011, the MCAA elected to hold their first ever prefabrication conference at Shinn Mechanical.
